POL STUDIO
Flawless Tailored Sustainable Shirts
There are times when breaking everything, leaving the comfort zone to reinvent yourself, learn, gain strength and momentum and return to the top is the best decision. The designer Paula de Andrés is a clear example. After presenting her first collection in 2013 under her signaturePOL at the EGO of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Madrid and after three collections and several projects, she decided to leave Madrid and go to London for two years, specifically to the prestigious Central de Saint Martins to specialise in the production of garments. Tailoring and things well done are her passion, she realised with her first collections, where she presented many differing clothing garments, that she was not able to be on top of everything and this frustrated her. She believed she needed more training, more learning and so decided to learn from other brands.Paula graduated from IED in 2011 after having studied 2 years of architecture, and worked with Moisés Nieto before moving to London and collaborating with firms such as Celine or Alexander McQueen. Her varied experiences can clearly be seen reflected in her collections.
Why has she now decided to focus only on shirts? Shirts for her are a starting point, and she chose them as starting point for various reasons: "The first is this reference that I had of traditional shirts. On the other hand, among the clothes in a woman's wardrobe, they offer the most possibilities and have the most pieces to play with when designing. With a shirt you can go from the most traditional masculine look to the most risky catwalk look."
